EXECUTIVE RISK

www.execrisk.com

"Never mistake motion for action." This may be the only insurance website that quotes Ernest Hemingway, gives surfers a chance to work brainteaser puzzles and has valuable insurance information. This is a complete redesign of what was originally a very useful sight. Now it is better than ever!

It's certainly not your average website...but then, Executive Risk isn't your average insurance company! Doing things differently is part of the corporate culture for Executive Risk. In the 1997 Annual Report (interactive version available online), three words are emphasized...growth, movement and change. Executive Risk has put together a web site indicative of those three words. The "claims scenarios" section can help any agent justify the need for coverages to a client. Examples are often the best illustration and this section is full of interesting claim situations.

According to Stephen Sills, President and Chief Executive Officer of Executive Risk, they are striving to make the website "a reason to do business with Executive Risk." Agents can download policies and applications, find out about new products being offered, read full descriptions of the types of coverages offered, and click on the "did you know" button for interesting statistical and informational data. If you haven't looked at it lately, you haven't seen it.

PROPERTY AND CASUALTY

www.propertyandcasualty.com

Whether it's today's front page or an overview of the month, propertyandcasualty.com has an abundance of insurance news at one site. Billed as the first "insurance information supersite," there's a lot to see and read at the site. There is a showcase under "products and services" with selected products, along with a search engine. Under the "Marketplace" section, you can click on business center to go to a "community" section under which you can enter live chatrooms or take part in discussion forums. Under resources, there is an "industry directory" and a spot to download software from various companies.

The news is categorized by regulation issues, industry news, litigation updates and technology so the user can find directly what is of value. If you have a pressing concern that you want to chat about with other industry insiders, you can schedule a specific time to discuss the issue or read the "hot posts" in the discussion room. The discussion forum's main topics are interesting to read and anyone can post questions that can be answered by insurance industry peers. There's a lot of timely news at this site and it's definitely worth a peek. *
