PLUS awards scholarships to two college students

The Professional Liability Underwriting Society has awarded Leo Gilmartin Scholarships to two students who have entered universities this fall. The students are Laura M. Moran of Wilton, Connecticut, the daughter of Paul Moran of Mendes & Mount, LLP, a PLUS corporate sponsor, and Kristin Kelly Sprowls, daughter of PLUS member Stephen Sprowls, president of Professional Lines Underwriting Specialist, Inc., in Austin, Texas. Each scholarship is worth $10,000.

Laura M. Moran is attending the University of Southern California's Film School, one of 24 students who are part of this exclusive film writing program. (Steven Spielberg was denied application and George Lucas is one of the famous alumni. Both are influential patrons of the program.)

Kristin Kelly Sprowls is attending the University of North Carolina. She was accepted into the university's honors program after maintaining a 4.0 grade average in high school and achieving a perfect 1600 SAT score and 36 ACT score.
