Intercorp, Inc.
Commercial clients have relied on Intercorp, Inc., based in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, to help manage their risks and protect their interests for many years. The veteran program administrator boasts a highly experienced staff of industry professionals who apply their expertise in program development, underwriting, and marketing to solve difficult, often hard-to-place risk transfer problems. Programs that Intercorp writes include coin collectors, dry cleaners, real estate appraisers as well as housing authorities. "We have built our team to address clients' specific needs," says John Matternas, president of Intercorp. "Our staff includes seasoned insurance executives, a hydro geologist specializing in environmental liability, and experts in marketing and promotion. We also apply focused technology, such as independent Web sites, developed in conjunction with our program partners, to facilitate the placement of business."

Matternas says that it was decades ago that Intercorp developed the first association captive in Bermuda. "Today we continue our long relationship with associations, offering our partners exclusive insurance products that benefit both the association and its members. For example, Intercorp developed and manages a comprehensive inventory program for the North American Collectibles Association. Coin, watch and clock dealers countrywide participate in this program that is similar to a Jewelers Block policy, but is priced more competitively to meet the needs of these particular dealers."

Environmental liability

Intercorp has been a leader in the pollution arena since the earliest days of pollution liability policies, according to Matternas. "For example, we pioneered one of the first pollution insurance programs for dry cleaners 10 years ago, when dry cleaners and their landlords were faced with high premiums and ineffective coverage," he says. "Today we continue our long history in the environmental field; from site-specific policies to products pollution to property transfer. We access major environmental insurance companies to find the right fit for the particular risk.

The common thread that ties these diverse programs together in Intercorp's office is service and responsiveness to agent and customer needs, Matternas says. "Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and outgoing, with a goal of answering questions when agents call. If immediate information is not available, they will get the information and get back to the agent or client. Intercorp often provides same-day or next-day turnaround on quotations, providing the account submits a complete application."

Continues Matternas: "If you are looking for creative solutions for complex insurance issues; if you have clients who need the superior coverage our programs can offer; or if you need a fresh perspective on a risk transfer problem, call us at (800) 640-7601, or e-mail info@intercorpinc.net." *
