Insurance Resources & Auditing Services, Inc.
To many people, even in the insurance business, the auditing function of insurance companies and agencies is an intrusion.

An insurance executive's primary objective is to attain his or her company's corporate goals--develop new business, increase profitability, maximize capabilities, find staffing solutions and maintain control. By merging these industry goals with significant experience and industry expertise, Insurance Resources & Auditing Services, Inc. (IR&AS), was formed.

Walter Dorosz, senior vice president and chief audit officer of IR&AS, says that the firm provides comprehensive auditing services, administrative support and outsourcing solutions. "We deliver the methods and solutions that allow our clients to focus on their primary objective. IR&AS gives our clients the power to achieve their corporate goals."

IR&AS has a team of talented individuals with extensive backgrounds in all areas of insurance and reinsurance services. Dorosz elaborates: "Each of our professionals possesses from 10- to 30-plus years of industry experience, enabling us to accurately assess a client's specific needs and provide effective solutions. The primary objective of IR&AS is to seek business relationships that will allow our customers to benefit from our successes in the insurance and reinsurance industry. We offer comprehensive administration and auditing services, or can assist with a specific function."

Dorosz says that IR&AS Administrative Services "are intended to organize and facilitate the management of a business. Downtime is counterproductive and inefficient. IR&AS recognizes this and can assist in key areas of administration that may strain an organization or be completely overlooked. No one is better qualified than IR&AS to provide the expertise and support needed. IR&AS offers a complete 'back-office' administration package that recognizes all of the administrative issues associated with insurance operations. It is our intention to be a seamless extension of a client's company, providing our customers' clients with insurance expertise and effective account handling. From underwriting to claims administration, policy issue to customer service, we have structured our resources to attain our most important goal--customer satisfaction."

IR&AS administrative services package includes: underwriting, underwriting reports, coordination of agent licensing and appointment, application and policy issuance, premium collection and delinquency control, financial reporting, claims adjudication and reporting, and customer service. All or a portion of these services can be delegated to IR&AS and tailored to meet a client's needs.

IR&AS Audit Services provide an opportunity for both individuals and organizations to ensure compliance, identify risks and unexpected liability, and promote communication. Dorosz stresses that "information is one of our most valuable assets and IR&AS is dedicated to delivering valuable information that helps individuals and organizations detect and intercept difficulties and recommend solutions to problems, when warranted." IR&AS employs a very straightforward approach to auditing. "The audit process is initiated with a complete understanding of exactly what our client, or our client's client, are looking for as an end product," says Dorosz.

IR&AS also recognizes that, in today's changing environment, business risks and economics may dictate that a company takes action to bring certain products or lines of business to an end. Dorosz explains, "We can provide full-service run-off management and administrative service throughout the entire run-out period. The types of services that we administer vary, based on the client's needs, but generally include: cash management, account processing, bordereaux preparation and reporting, claims management and administration, reinsurance collections, maintenance of books and records, tracking underwriting results, and commutation negotiations.

"For accident and health companies with more aggressive exit strategies, IR&AS can assist in establishing effective options for exit. We also provide the resources needed to perform the valuation of known and future liabilities, and negotiate the commutation agreement." The catastrophic events of 9/11 resulted in huge losses to the insurance industry that present a unique set of coverage, cash flow and reporting issues. Dorosz says, "IR&AS can assist with the management, reserving and payment of a client's 9/11 accident and health claims, as well as all aspects of ceded reinsurance recoveries."*
