LiquorPak & WineryPak

Key programs administered: comprehensive insurance packages for wineries and for liquor and wine retailers

Since 1996, LiquorPak has been the leading provider of insurance to wine and liquor retailers across the country. Larry Chasin, president of LiquorPak, explains, “We have managed to provide a stable marketplace over the long term while remaining both aggressive and selective. Our clients include top retailers from coast to coast—from single location operations to multi-unit chains and large warehouse stores. We provide comprehensive coverages at extremely competitive premiums to above average operations.”

In partnership with its carrier, Great American Insurance Group, LiquorPak has gained extensive experience in underwriting, claims, and loss prevention. “This has provided us with tremendous knowledge and insight into the daily operations and exposures presented by this specialized class of business,” states Chasin. “We’ve been able to use this knowledge to further develop our coverages and services in order to strengthen our program.”

The expansion of wine specialty stores across the country has created new opportunities for LiquorPak. “These operations typically have wine tastings on and off premises. They range from controlled pours to ‘by the glass’ or bottle consumption, special events, and winemaker dinners. Our loss prevention and underwriting teams are experienced with these exposures and wine specialty stores have become a key part of our growth,” explains Chasin.

A passion about wine and the winemaking process led to the development of this program administrator’s most recent introduction, WineryPak. “Our carrier partner, Great American Insurance Group, has extensive experience insuring wineries,” noted Chasin. “WineryPak has been able to leverage this experience with its passion and focus on the wine industry to provide customized coverages to this highly specialized class of business.

“Our ability to accommodate the wide variety of exposures that may exist at wineries today has given our agents a competitive advantage right from the start. We can address restaurant, hotel, and special events exposures, in addition to the typical exposures presented by winery, farm and vineyard operations.”

The combination of specialized coverages and limited focus has once again provided LiquorPak and WineryPak a solid foundation for success.

“We have been extremely successful targeting both boutique wineries and very large wineries. Our underwriting flexibility enables us to customize our policies to the individual needs of each risk. It has been mutually rewarding meeting with winemakers to discuss their exposures and concerns,” observes Chasin. “They seem very receptive to our approach, and appreciate our industry focus and experience.”

LiquorPak and WineryPak’s unique focus on the wine industry clearly sets them apart from others within the marketplace. “We are fortunate to be able to combine our personal passion for wine with our professional expertise,” Chasin states. “Our agents and policyholders recognize this passion, and they count on us to deliver ‘best in class’ coverage, price and service.”

Chasin points out that he looks to partner with agencies focusing on these classes of business. “Whether you control a number of accounts today or want to begin targeting the wine industry, we want to help you grow your business. We know that a good many of the Target Markets Program Administrators Association members are, themselves, ‘best in class’ insurance professionals. We are always happy for the opportunity to network with them.”

Whether it’s LiquorPak or WineryPak, this program administrator is passionate about wine and the opportunities its program business offers. *
