The Navigators Group, Inc., is an international specialty insurance holding company with insurance company operations, underwriting management companies, and operations at Lloyd’s.

Headquartered in New York City, Navigators maintains offices in major insurance centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and in continental Europe.

Navigators is recognized as one of the largest ocean marine insurers in the world. In addition to its ocean marine business, Navigators underwrites many other specialty insurance products including program business, directors and officers liability, primary casualty, excess casualty, energy, engineering, property, and inland marine insurance.

Program categories that the company writes include, among others, building material dealers, personal umbrella, underground tanks coverage, wineries and garage risks. The creation of the Program Business Unit, launched in May 2007, is one of the most recent developments in Navigators Specialty’s ongoing diversification strategy. This division focuses on developing portfolios of homogenous risks in a variety of specialty industry niches, produced through program administrators. Products underwritten by the Program Business Unit include property, general liability and commercial automobile insurance.

According to Rick Cullen, Navigators’ specialty program division president, “Navigators provides a stable and financially strong platform to program administrators who value long-term relationships. We place a high priority on technical expertise focused on niche-oriented books.”

In addition to several significant 2007 financial achievements, Navigators was added to the Standard & Poor’s SmallCap 600, and to NASDAQ Financial 100 Indices. The company was also recognized by Crain’s New York Business as one of the fastest growing companies in metropolitan New York, and was recently named Profit Champion by National Underwriter.

“We recognize that competitive conditions in the global property/casualty market are likely to continue over the next three years,” said Stan Galanski, president and chief executive officer. “As such, we will continue to keep a watchful eye on emerging trends in our various lines of business, continue to exercise prudent risk taking, and will not hesitate to walk away from unprofitable business.”

Coverage is underwritten by Navigators Insurance Company and Navigators Specialty Insurance Company. Both are rated “A” (Excellent) by A.M. Best, and are designated “A” (Strong) by Standard & Poors and by Navigators Syndicate 1221 at Lloyd’s. *
