Incoming and outgoing presidents reflect on the state of PLUS

“The role of PLUS has been and always will be to support and enrich members of the professional liability underwriting arena through networking. Nothing is going to change there. But what is changing—or perhaps better to say “evolving”—is the educational opportunities available to members.”

So says Daniel Auslander, vice president, underwriting for CNA Global Specialty Lines, based in Cranbury, New Jersey, and incoming president of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. Auslander, himself an RPLU, leads a business unit focused on profitably growing a portfolio of management liability and miscellaneous professional liability products designed for privately owned companies and not-for-profit entities. In addition, Auslander is responsible for CNA’s market-leading professional liability program for real estate brokerage firms and real estate-related entities.

“Our basic educational curriculum at PLUS is aligned with the RPLU designation, which is our flagship,” says Auslander. “In addition, we also have a new curriculum designed more holistically, so that if a member wants to learn more about one topic, such as fiduciary liability, he or she can
