Helping agents and brokers service their customers

Since 1951, Glatfelter Insurance Group has provided agents and brokers with proprietary, value-added insurance programs and sound risk management services. Today Glatfelter is one of the largest privately owned insurance brokers in the United States. Founded on the principles of service and trust, Glatfelter takes pride in supporting agents and brokers on their journey to success by helping them serve their customers’ needs.

In 1969, Glatfelter recognized the need for a specialized program for emergency service organizations, so it established the VFIS program. Today VFIS is considered one of the nation’s leading insurance and educational & training programs for nonprofit fire and EMS organizations. It is that type of commitment to understanding the needs of agents and brokers and their insureds that positions Glatfelter as a trusted partner.

Four decades after the launch of VFIS, Glatfelter continues its ongoing quest to provide niche programs. In 2008, with the acquisition of Professional Underwriters Company, Glatfelter saw an opportunity to provide additional public entity programs to complement its existing public entity offerings.

The addition of Professional Underwriters prompted the development of a new division, Glatfelter Public Practice. This division serves specific niches in the public entity sector—including public & private schools, municipalities, and water & sewer districts—with proprietary property and liability insurance coverage.

According to Glatfelter President and CEO, Tony Campisi, “We are committed to helping brokers deliver tailored insurance coverages backed by a dedicated service team that understands the loss exposures of the specialty markets we serve. Our focus on specialization provides brokers with a stronger, more competitive platform to write new accounts and grow their book of business. As a specialty provider in several niches, we provide tools to our agents and brokers to allow them to compete and win in the marketplace. We recognize that in many niches, agents may be working with us on a single account or they may have several accounts. As a specialty program manager, we bring our expertise to bear regardless of the number of accounts an agent or broker might have.”

In addition to VFIS and Glatfelter Public Practice, other niche programs provided by Glatfelter Insurance Group include Hospice and Community Care Insurance Services for hospice and home health care agencies, and The Insurancenter for the car wash industry.

When asked what differentiates Glatfelter Insurance Group from others in the market, Campisi replied, “In contrast to some managing general agencies, we have a long history of stability, demonstrated expertise, and service. While some providers may jump in and out of the marketplace, we are steadfast in our commitment to the specialty markets we serve and have spent years refining our offerings for the benefit of agents and brokers and their insureds.
