The Rough Notes Company Community Service Award

Recognizing independent agents who perform extraordinary service

By Robert N. Kretzmer, CIC

We need your help in identifying independent insurance agents or agencies who have performed extraordinary service in their local communities. Each year The Rough Notes Company seeks to formally recognize and honor independent agents and/or agencies for their philanthropic endeavors which benefit their fellow citizens. We are looking for those special charitable acts by independent agents that help make their local communities a better place to live.

Over the past seven years The Rough Notes Company has had the pleasure of recognizing some incredible acts of philanthropy and has had the privilege of honoring agents and agencies that have gone “way beyond the call of duty” in securing the future of their communities.

Our past winners have performed such varied altruistic endeavors as leading a United Way campaign; establishing a walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; running a therapeutic horseback riding clinic for handicapped and disabled children; developing and opening a Boys and Girls Club; chairing a committee to fund an emergency room for a local hospital; and operating a program to feed hungry children in America! We are certain that numerous other individual agents or agencies perform wonderful acts of philanthropy in their local communities. We need your immediate help in identifying these selfless agents. Please complete the nomination form, and remember that our deadline is December 31, 2006!

Nominations are open to all independent insurance agents and agencies that perform community service. Also, we allow agents, agency personnel, insurance companies, agent associations, charities and other community service organizations to nominate a deserving agent or agency.

The winner and honorable mention recipients will be honored at an awards dinner in Indianapolis in early 2007 in conjunction with the Rough Notes magazine’s 18th annual Marketing Agency of the Year celebration. In addition, Rough Notes magazine will feature an article on the winning agents/agencies. The winning charity or community service project will receive $5,000 in the name of the winning agent/agency; and, the honorable mention recipients’ charities or community service projects will each receive $1,500 in the name of the winning agent/agency. Winners will be presented with an eagle statue with an engraved plaque recognizing their contributions to their local communities.

Please take time to help us by completing the accompanying nomination form and returning it to us no later than December 31, 2006. *
